A Chinese national, Mr. Wang, who was abducted on September 5 in an attack that killed eight personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Okpella, Edo State, has regained his freedom.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Mr. Wang was released at about 11:30 p.m. on December 2 in Kabba, Kogi State. Sources said he left Nigeria immediately after his release and has since returned to China.
Details regarding ransom or negotiation processes were not disclosed.
Troops Rescue 10 Kidnapped Women in Kaduna
In a separate development, troops of Operation Peace Shield have rescued 10 women abducted on November 29 from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A reliable Army Headquarters source told NAN that Sector 5 troops carried out a sustained search-and-rescue operation, intercepting the kidnappers at about 6:40 a.m. on Friday while they attempted to collect ransom.
The troops engaged the criminals with “superior firepower,” forcing them to flee and abandon the captives.
