A young man from Plateau State, simply identified as Nengak, has reportedly lost his life after being brutally beaten by a mob in Lagos State. The attack followed accusations that he was involved in an intimate relationship with the wife of his employer.
According to details shared by Bitrus Idi, a close friend of the deceased who spoke with Daily Post, Nengak worked as a security guard and domestic assistant for a family living in the high-brow Victoria Garden City (VGC) area. Although employed as a guard, he was also responsible for additional household duties such as preparing meals, washing the family’s vehicles, and escorting the children to and from school.
Idi explained that the employer frequently travelled abroad for work, often leaving his wife and the young guard alone in the residence for extended periods. Over time, the woman allegedly began showing romantic interest in the young man.
“Because he was young, strong, and good-looking, the madam developed feelings for him and started requesting things outside his official duties,” Idi recounted.
He claimed that the relationship continued discreetly for several months. However, suspicions grew when the husband began hearing rumours hinting at possible infidelity. In response, the man secretly installed CCTV cameras in the house to monitor activities in his absence.
According to Idi, the employer pretended to embark on another trip out of Lagos. Unaware that he was being watched, Nengak reportedly went about his routine. Once the cameras allegedly captured compromising footage, the husband returned without notice and set a trap.
On the day of the tragic incident, the employer informed his wife that he was travelling again but had, in fact, arranged for a group of local vigilantes or thugs to stay close to the house. When the wife allegedly invited Nengak into the master bedroom, the husband and the hired men stormed into the room.
What followed, Idi said, was a violent assault that resulted in Nengak’s death.
“We have no one to speak for him. They beat him until he died, and up to now the case hasn’t been properly filed,” Idi lamented. He further alleged that the police demanded money for an autopsy and other investigative procedures before any formal case could begin.
As of the latest update, Nengak’s body is still at the mortuary, while his family and friends continue to seek justice and await official action from authorities.
