Peter Obi, Delta Leaders Pay Final Respects to Late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in Ibusa


 The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, joined top political figures in Delta State to honour the late Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi at his funeral Mass in Ibusa.







Among those present were the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy Sir John Onyeme, former governors James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as serving and former members of both the National and State Assemblies. The gathering drew a wide range of dignitaries, reflecting the late senator’s longstanding influence in Delta politics and beyond.







Senator Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, passed away in December 2025. His funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ibusa, Delta State, where family members, political associates, and supporters assembled to bid him farewell.






In a message shared on his verified 𝕏 account on Saturday, Peter Obi expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and all who were touched by the late lawmaker’s life and service. Obi noted that he joined other prominent Nigerians to pay their last respects to a man he described as a distinguished public servant.






He prayed that God would grant the departed senator eternal rest and give his family, friends, and constituents the strength to endure what he described as an irreplaceable loss. Obi’s presence, alongside key political stakeholders from across party lines, underscored the late Nwaoboshi’s enduring legacy in Delta State and his contributions to legislative governance at the national level.
