Former Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore has raised serious concerns over his disqualification from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Osun State, claiming the move was orchestrated to produce a predetermined result.
In a post on his 𝕏 account on Saturday, Omisore revealed that he has formally appeared before the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee to contest the decision, stressing that the process behind his disqualification was unfair and potentially damaging to the party’s prospects.
“The reasons circulating for my disqualification, including allegations that I failed to secure nominations from financial party members, are entirely false, malicious, and embarrassing,” Omisore wrote. “These claims appear to have been manufactured solely to justify a predetermined outcome.”
Omisore, who previously served as the APC National Secretary, also highlighted that he has not received any formal communication confirming his disqualification, either from the screening committee or the party. He urged the Appeal Committee to rectify what he described as a grave injustice.
Speaking alongside six other aspirants reportedly disqualified, Omisore warned that imposing a candidate without proper party support could severely undermine APC’s chances in the 2026 elections. He emphasized that failing to correct this perceived injustice could have long-term negative consequences for the party’s standing in Osun State.
During an earlier interaction with journalists in Abuja, Omisore described the disqualification as “a huge joke” and accused the screening panel of bias and procedural violations. He called on the Appeal Committee to conduct a thorough review of the screening process and provide a fair resolution.
As the APC prepares for the governorship contest in Osun, Omisore’s allegations have cast a spotlight on internal party processes and raised questions about transparency and fairness within the candidate selection framework.
