The newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, has reportedly been involved in a tragic road accident in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
Yakubu, who recently secured the AGN presidency by a slim margin—winning 116 votes against Rita Daniels’ 113, with three ballots voided—had only just stepped into his new role when the incident occurred.
Early reports indicate that the crash led to the death of one person, though details about the victim and the events leading up to the collision remain unclear.
According to information circulating from Sahara Reporters, Yakubu was taken into custody at the Barracks Police Station in Surulere shortly after the incident. Law enforcement officials are said to be conducting a thorough investigation to determine what caused the accident and whether any form of negligence was involved.
As of now, authorities have not issued an official statement, leaving many questions unanswered. The AGN community and the public await clarity as the investigation progresses, while concern grows over the circumstances surrounding the tragic event and its potential legal implications for the newly elected guild president.
