The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, Alhaji Dahiru Nayaya Ambursa, from the party with immediate effect over allegations of misconduct and actions deemed harmful to party unity.
The suspension was conveyed in an official letter issued by the Kebbi Central Zonal Office of the APC. In the letter, the party informed Ambursa that the decision followed reports and findings accusing him of abusing his office and engaging in activities that allegedly undermined, embarrassed, and brought disunity within the party.
According to the APC, such actions run contrary to the principles and interests of the party and violate Article 21 (2) (ii) of the APC Constitution (2022, as amended), which outlines offences and disciplinary measures for members whose conduct is considered detrimental to the organisation.
The party emphasized that the suspension was carried out in line with its constitution and established internal disciplinary procedures. As part of the sanctions, Ambursa has been directed to stay away from all APC offices for the duration of the suspension.
The letter also issued a strong warning, stating that any further misconduct or similar actions while the suspension remains in force could result in harsher penalties, including possible expulsion from the party.
Party officials noted that the disciplinary step was necessary to protect the integrity, unity, and collective interests of the APC in Kebbi State. They reaffirmed the party’s commitment to enforcing discipline among its members, regardless of status or position.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain a reaction from Alhaji Dahiru Nayaya Ambursa regarding the suspension were unsuccessful.
