Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed claims that his love for dancing affects his ability to govern effectively. Adeleke, widely known across Nigeria as the “Dancing Governor” due to his lively public dance displays, has often faced criticism from political rivals who argue that his energetic persona reflects a lack of seriousness in leadership.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the governor made it clear that his dancing has no bearing on the quality of his administration or his commitment to the people of Osun State. He emphasized that despite perceptions shaped by his public demeanour, he remains fully dedicated to delivering good governance.
Adeleke, who has declared his intention to seek re-election in 2026 under the Accord Party, stressed that what truly matters is the work he does for the state, not his personal style or how he chooses to express himself. According to him, political platforms are necessary for election processes, and navigating them requires time, strategy, and patience.
“I have done everything within my capacity because I truly love Osun State,” he explained. “If one could secure candidacy without relying on any political platform, things might be different. But the reality is that you need a platform, and time is moving quickly.”
Reflecting on ongoing legal challenges, Adeleke admitted that the future remains uncertain, saying, “I cannot predict what tomorrow holds because of the court cases still pending.”
He, however, reiterated that none of these issues neither political maneuvering nor public criticism diminish his focus on governance. The governor maintained that his dancing is simply a part of his personality and does not interfere with the responsibilities of leading Osun State.
The interview highlighted Adeleke’s determination to balance his distinctive public image with his commitment to service delivery, even as the political landscape ahead of 2026 continues to unfold.
