PDP to Officially Present Certificate of Return to Ekiti Governorship Candidate Dr. Oluwole Oluyede

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to formally present the Certificate of Return to its governorship candidate for Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede. The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

The announcement was made on Monday through a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, highlighting the significance of the ceremony in the party’s preparations for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

According to the statement, “Following the successful conclusion of the Ekiti State Gubernatorial Primary Election of our great party and the subsequent ratification by the Appeal Panel, the National Working Committee has scheduled the presentation of the Certificate of Return to our candidate, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, for the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.”

The PDP has extended invitations to key party stakeholders, including members of its National Executive Committee (NEC), serving and former governors, legislators, members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), and other influential figures within the party. The event is seen as a strategic effort to consolidate party structures and build momentum ahead of the forthcoming election.

Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, a respected medical doctor, emerged as the party’s flagbearer following a closely contested primary election held on November 8, which extended into the early hours of November 9. He garnered 279 votes, narrowly defeating his main rival, Funso Ayeni, who received 239 votes, while Funmilayo Ogun trailed with 17 votes.

The formal presentation of the Certificate of Return not only solidifies Dr. Oluyede’s candidacy but also signals the PDP’s readiness to mount a robust campaign in Ekiti State for the 2026 governorship election.
