The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, has revealed that the state government is preparing to unveil startling details about the insecurity affecting Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole. According to him, the forthcoming disclosure will expose critical facts while also showcasing the decisive actions taken by Governor Usman Ododo to confront security challenges.
Fanwo made this known on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief. He explained that sustained collaboration between the state government and security agencies has begun to yield concrete results, adding that a major announcement expected within 24 hours would capture national attention.
He stressed that the planned revelation would clearly demonstrate the governor’s commitment and strategic approach to safeguarding lives and property, not only in Kogi State but also in contributing to broader national security efforts. Fanwo expressed confidence that Nigerians would better understand the scale of work being done behind the scenes once the information is made public.
Addressing recent incidents of kidnapping in the state, including the abduction of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church pastor and his wife in Ejigba, Yaba West Local Government Area, as well as cases involving members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, the commissioner assured residents that the government is working tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of all victims.
Fanwo further explained that Kogi State’s geographical position makes it particularly vulnerable, as it shares borders with ten states, including the Federal Capital Territory. He noted that increased security pressure in neighbouring states such as Niger and Kwara has forced criminal groups to shift their activities toward Kogi. However, he emphasized that the state government has responded swiftly by tightening security measures and disrupting criminal networks.
According to him, security agencies have successfully restricted the movement and supply lines of these groups, making it increasingly difficult for them to operate within the state. He maintained that without the existing security framework, the situation could have been far worse, but assured citizens that the state remains firmly under control.
Fanwo also disclosed that several planned attacks by bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements had been thwarted before they could be carried out. He said joint operations involving the Nigerian Army, the Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) are ongoing, with suspects currently being pursued in forested areas across the state.
Reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance stance on crime, the commissioner declared that Kogi State is not, and will never be, a safe haven for criminals. He added that for every incident that has occurred, security forces have successfully prevented many more, underscoring the effectiveness of proactive intelligence and coordinated security operations.
