Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has issued a public apology to Mohamed Salah after making critical remarks about the forward ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan on Tuesday.
During CBS Sports’ live coverage of the competition, Carragher was prompted by fellow pundit and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards to retract his earlier comments. Carragher agreed, offering a direct message to the Egyptian star.
According to the Mirror, he said:
“Mo, I apologise if I’ve upset you. I love you as a Liverpool player, but you need to conduct yourself properly off the pitch.”
Salah was noticeably absent from Liverpool’s squad for the trip to the San Siro, where the Reds claimed an important 1–0 victory. His omission came shortly after controversy surrounding a fiery interview he granted, though the club has yet to release an official statement linking the interview to his exclusion.
