Film producer and social commentator Stanley Ontop has reportedly been arrested and is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Delta State.
Sources indicate that he was taken into custody on Tuesday, December 9, though the exact reason for his arrest has not yet been disclosed. A report by LIB suggests that the arrest stemmed from a petition submitted by Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbeth, but the details of that petition remain undisclosed.
According to Naija News, the development marks another chapter in the prolonged and highly publicized conflict between Ontop and Hilbeth. Their disagreement allegedly began with issues connected to fellow actress Destiny Etiko. Hilbeth had accused Etiko of taking over a relationship she claimed to have maintained for five years. Ontop, however, countered that the man involved was married and alleged that Hilbeth turned against Etiko after receiving financial help from her during a personal crisis.
The dispute escalated as Ontop publicly levelled serious accusations against Hilbeth, including claims involving substance abuse and other inappropriate conduct. Hilbeth, in an effort to defend herself, shared a medical report on Instagram to refute the allegations. Ontop, in turn, questioned the validity of the document.
Tensions intensified further when Hilbeth became the target of a ₦100 million defamation lawsuit filed by Destiny Etiko, who also reportedly sought police involvement over earlier incidents. Hilbeth claimed that the attempted arrest initiated at Etiko’s request was unlawful.
With Ontop now detained, the situation has taken a new turn, and observers await official information on the exact grounds for his arrest as the controversy among the trio continues to unfold.
